摘要
Based on extensive tests of trial steels prepared by systematic alloying additions, a series of steels containing 0. 6 - 2%Cr-Al have been developed. These steels have excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments as well as good mechanical and welding properties. Their advantages result from the facts that combined additions of Cr and Al increase corrosion resistance remarkably, pitting corrosion is not a problem with less than 2% Cr, and alloyed Al is effective in lowering the maximum hardness and preheat temperature in welding. Unlike other marine steels which are only resistant at the splash zones, the new steels are also resistant in sea water. Performance test results clearly indicate good applicability of these steels as the construction material of various marine structures.
