H2S/H2 GAS SENSOR UTILIZING AN OXIDE SOLID ELECTROLYTE.

When allowed to react with ZnO at 873 K, H//2S-H//2 gas mixture turns into H//2O-H//2 gas mixture almost completely. The H//2O/H//2 gas ratio, which should correspond to the H//2S/H//2 ratio in the gas mixture originally passed, can be evaluated from the emf measurement utilizing an oxide solid electrolyte. The effectiveness of the H//2S/H//2 gas sensor, based on this principle, has been shown experimentally in the present investigation. As an example of the applications, the sulfur partial pressure exerted by Ag-Ag//2S two melts was measured by using this H//2S/H//2 gas sensor. The present experimental results were found to be in reasonable agreement with the published values.
