Two 4500-kW multi-phase pumps designed for a maximum differential pressure of 80 bar will be commissioned on the Dunbar platform in the North Sea at the end of 1999. According to a feasibility study undertaken by Total, the employment of this ultra-modern technology on the Dunbar platform resulting in a cost saving of 30% and is 30% lighter than the next best alternative. The pumps will transport oil-gas mixtures over a distance of more than 20 km to the Alwyn North platform for processing.
