摘要
This paper describes the results of work to formulate greases and gear oils using synthetic hydrocarbon fluids of the type derived from alpha-olefins and referred to by the trademark Synfluid. It is shown that polyalphaolefin gear oils demonstrate advantages over comparable mineral oils in that they remain functional at low temperatures, have multipurpose application and year-round service, have excellent thermal and oxidation stability, have extended lubricant life, are compatible with seals and painted surfaces, have excellent lubricity properties, and have excellent performance in sealed-for-life gear boxes.
