摘要
Chip formation of SCM 3 steel was investigated. The temperature at front surface of built up edge was higher than that outside of tool surface. Cutting force in turning decreased with hardness. A new equation to calculate the shear angle ( phi ) of chip was obtained by replacing the hardness and cutting speed with the observed deformation flow layer.
