A high-yielding synthetic method for the condensates of threo-(1S,2S)-2-amino-1-4'-nitrophenyl-1,3-propanediol and some ketones

A convenient preparative method of the condensates of threo- (1S,2S)-2-amino-1-4'-nitrophenyl-1,3-propanediol with some ketones was described. Threo-(1S,2S)-2-amino-1-4'-nitrophenyl-1, 3-propanediol reacted azeotropically with some aliphatic ketones or alicyclic ketones in toluene or xylene, and then treated with diethyl ether to offer almost quantitatively crystalline condensates.
