Studies of on-line simulation of microprocessor-based HVDC converter control system

This paper presents the studies of the on-line simulation of an HVDC converter control system which was operated in the converter stations of the AC-DC system simulation manufactured by ABB, Switzerland. Control software package has been drawn up, including normal start up/shutdown, power transmission and regulation, control characteristics switch over, fault emergency switch off, current reference values coordination etc. Effective measures were taken to overcome the unstable phenomena that occurred during the test such as current and voltage oscillations. The methods and experience in the simulation could be used for HVDC systems real-time control development.
