Liquid organic hydrides in hydrogen storage and transport is a new type of technology with some unique perfect advantage. Principles and characteristics of this reversible hydrogen storage technology are introduced, and its research progress is reviewed. It is pointed out that developing efficient dehydrogenation catalysts and catalytic membrane reactor dehydrogenation of hydrogen carrier, which will greatly improve dehydrogenation efficiency and markedly increase the hydrogen storage capacity of the system, may be the research tendency of this hydrogen storage technology.
