Program for the Analysis of Stresses with the Boundary Element Method for Plane Problems.

An automatic calculation program is presented which permits determination of the tension state at the contour of underground with the boundary element method. The limits of application of the program are essentially to be found in the possibility of examining only the elastic field, not foreseeing extension to the plastic phase. Consequently, the relative field of utilization is that of tunnels in rock or in terrains with good geomechanical characteristics, it being, however, at the discretion of the planner to accept the validity of the results also in the presence of peculiar plasticized areas. The advantages of the proposed method are brought out in the very reduced number of parameters to be provided in input and in the rapidity of iterative processes, which make a further easy help available to determine the stability of the excavation.
