摘要
The authors have conducted a numerical experiment on which they have based an engineering technique for determining the heat transfer characteristics. The paper examines melting of a substance located in a closed volume, with heating from below. The following assumptions are made: 1) the Boussinesq approximation is used for the liquid phase; 2) the phase densities are the same; 3) the flow is laminar and two-dimensional. In reality the flow will be two-dimensional in the case when the thickness of the closed volume is appreciably less than its length and height.
