The nature of the adhesion interaction and rupture of the polyimide-aluminum foil contact during stepwise temperature-time treatment was determined with the methods of electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and electron-probe microanalysis. It is shown that the adhesion interaction occurs in the polyamido acid stage due to the sequential processes of filling of microdefects, microrheology, and the appearance of a specific interphase interaction. A mechanism of the rupture of the polyimide-aluminum foil adhesive bond consisting of cohesion rupture of the polymer pulled from the 'rivit' contacts was proposed.
