Lightweight coated (LWC) paper producers pushed through price rises at the half-year mark in most European markets. The rise took a little longer to trickle through in Germany. There was less of a fight against the increases from buyers in Italy and Spain. In Spain, the effect of price rise was wiped out by rise in fuel cost. In France the prices are yet to move upward across the board. Papermakers are citing the arguments of a tight market and galloping demand in support of price rise. In Spain the demand of LWC has pushed up.
