Development Tendencies for Feed Drives. High Dynamics by Reduced Inertia.

Feed drives of machine tools carry out the movements of workpieces and tools which are necessary in between two operations, as for instance approaching a drill to the surface of the workpiece. The required time, the setting time, is non-productive just as the maintenance and down time of the drive. A considerable reduction of these non-productive times can be achieved by operationally safe, low maintenance and dynamic drive systems. Decisive for the dynamics of the system are short acceleration and braking operations. And also the capability of integration of the feed drive into existing or future automating systems plays an important role.
