The latest neural net toolkits are literally changing the face of advanced control permanently. Fisher-Rosemount may have released the best product yet. Instead of applying neural nets directly to advanced control, the firm has created an easy-to-use and intelligent, or virtual sensor toolkit. Basically, it is a PC Windows-based package which helps one design, train and then validate one's own software-based sensors. It simply uses relevant historical plant data one has provided, but which it helps to pre-process.
