We measured and analyzed the reciprocating motion of a magnet floated above a YBa2Cu3Ox superconductor. Frequency dependences of the amplitude and phase of the reciprocation implied that the reciprocating motion has one degree of freedom. A mechanical model with a mass, a spring, and a dashpot was used to analyze the reciprocation characteristics. By adding frequency and displacement dependences of the pinning effect to the mechanical model, we obtained good agreement between analytical and experimental results.
