I- may be oxidized to form IO-3. On this basis the determination of iodine ion by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry(DPAS) on Pt ball work electrode was investigated. For overcoming the absorption of IO-3, the electrode was washed by electrochemical method (at + 1.3 V) for 120 s. This method can detect 5. 00 × 10-7 mol/L I- in 0.1 mol/L KH2PO4-K2HPO4 buffer solution(pH=4). A good proportionality between the peak current of DPAS and iodine ion concentration in the range of 5. 00 × 10-7 [similar to] 1. 50 × 10-5 mol/L has been observed. This method was successfully applied to determination of iodine in kelp and edible salt.
