Control problems encountered in operating air, process and pipe line compressors and typical control system solutions are presented. Control of centrifugal compressors against surges at low capacities is discussed. Reciprocating compressor systems with incremental capacity loading require a combination of analog and digital methods for precise pressure control. A pneumatic system for pressure control and multiple compressor sequencing is described.
