Flexible manufacturing in sheet metal working companies is still in its infancy. Flexible systems for the cutting, stamping and spot welding of thin sheet have existed for some time, but so far there has been a lack of flexibility in folding operations due to the non-availability of automatic tool changing equipment. With a tool changing system for oscillating folding presses developed in Austria, complex sheet metal components can now also be produced in flexible manufacturing systems.
