The article presents the results of a loading test carried out on a cast-in-situ screwed pile in Flemish clay. The purpose of the test was the following: - To check the real bearing capacity of this type of pile which frequently gave rise to heated discussions between specialists owing to the lack of a recognized calculation method. - To estimate the values of different calculation parameters (q//s, k//p, k//c) in order to work out a calculation method based upon the interpretation of the pressure-meter and penetrometer tests. The analysis of the results showed that the overall bearing capacity of this type of pile was high in spite of its relatively small embedded length and diameter, and that consequently the technique of the screwed cast-in-situ pile was well suited to the plastic clays of northern France.
