The effect of this shape-memory is the ability of the metal's crystal condition to return to its high-temperature phase from a low-temperature phase. Theoretically, this occurs due to what is called heat elasticity martensitic transformation. The article discusses shape-memory and ultra-elasticity effects and reports on the discovery of An-Cd alloy. Ni-Ti, Cu-Zn-Al families of alloys are also discussed.
