A probability model of a flashover in oils as suggested by K. F. Stepancuk is examined experimentally. The measurement was carried out by application of a dc voltage to electrodes of the Rogowski type and of a surge voltage of the form 1. 2/400 mu s to hemispherical electrodes. Both cases led to satisfactory agreement between experiment and theory.
