摘要
As a basic alloying element, vanadium avoids all the above problems. The addition of say 0. 1 per cent V strengthens the steel by a much larger amount than similar additions of Mn, Si, Cr or even Ni. Vanadium forms the stable carbide VC, and very little remains in solid solution. Vanadium carbides do not dissolve iron, and they persist in the steel as an independent phase along with cementite. A study of the comparative effectiveness of producing and using cast vanadium steels in various branches of engineering has shown that tractor construction represents their most favorable field of use.
