The retrofitting of an existing oil/gas-fired flue boiler with a fluidized bed furnace, which also incorporates a pressure-reinforced combustion air blower, an additional suction draught blower as well as de-coaling, de-ashing and filter units, can be carried out with acceptable financial investment because the heat price of coal is lower than of oil or gas. Such a combustion conversion is especially lucrative for large flue boilers which have a high annual rate.
