摘要
In the reported experiments, studies on tear and tensile properties of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) vulcanizates have been made with respect to the following parameters: nature of crosslinks, effects of addition of short silk fiber and carbon black, and effect of increased crosslink density. Depending on the extent of adhesion between the silk fiber and the rubber matrix, tear and tensile strength of the composites was found to follow the order: optimum crosslinked sulfur systems - highly crosslinked sulfur systems - dicumly peroxide (DCP) crosslinked systems. In general, short fibers tend to overshadow the effect of crosslinking type in failure properties.
