EXSTATIC: The merger of expert systems and microcomputers as a training paradigm

Expert systems have been undergoing rapid development and commercialization in recent years. Moreover, some researchers have taken advantage of the capability of expert systems to teach rather than simply to solve problems, thereby giving rise to a class of software sometimes, referred to as intelligent tutoring systems. In this paper, the development of an expert-systems-based intelligent tutoring system from an organizational learning model is traced, and it is shown how this program is constructed to support daily learning requirements in work performance. The results of testing the program's tutoring effectiveness are also reported.
