Mode locking in a periodically forced integrate-and-fire-or-burst (IFB) neuron model was investigated using arbitrary periodic forcing technique. The response properties of thalamocortical relay neurons were effected by a low-threshold transient Ca2+ conductance. It is found that the zones for mode-locking is in agreement with numerical simulation and are used to explore the stimulus dependence of burst versus tonic response of the IFB neuron model.
