摘要：
A metallographic study of three-high plate mill rolls, fractured by spalling, showed that the failure was associated with phase transformations occurring as a result of local heating due to mechanical problems in the rolling mill operation. The fracture problem was solved by subjecting the rolls to suitable heat treatment and grinding after the occurrence of the fault responsible for microstructural changes.
