Investigation of sheet hot rolled from rimming steel containing 0. 02 to 0. 1%Cr showed the chromium was present in solid solution, in coarse particles of oxide (FeMn)O multiplied by (times) Cr//2O//3, and in fine particles of sulfide FeS multiplied by (times) Cr//2S//3. No chromium carbide or nitride was found. The amount of the oxide increases in proportion to the increase in total Cr content, whereas the amount of the sulfide depends mainly on the sulfur content of the steel.
