On the basis of complex representations of strain tensor components, formulas are obtained to determine a strained state at any point of elastic half-space when a circular cylindrical die slips on its surface. Strain distribution in deep layers of half-space is studied as affected by its frictional forces and elastic properties. The contact region is shown to be subject to both compressive and tensile strains. Formulas are obtained for determining the most deformed point in the tensile region and the maximum tensile strain value.
