This paper is concerned with processing of powdered synthetic elastomers as well as with properties and performance of rubber products. It is demonstrated that silicone-rubber powder goes a step beyond powdered organic rubber by eliminating the energy-consuming mastication step ordinarily necessary to ensure polymer/filler dispersion. In addition, the powder has an unlimited shelf life and even promises to yield improved physical properties. Property data are tabulated. Economic considerations are included.
