The prevalence of inexpensive computing power is causing new demands to be made on analogue data acquisition. As higher level processing and control tasks are performed more cheaply, the need for higher precision 'real world' inputs is growing for application across the industrial spectrum from car engine control to sheep shearing apparatus. Aiming to satisfy the needs of many of these new applications National Semiconductor has developed two new 12-bit CMOS A/D converters.
