This paper describes the relationship between the refining processes or techniques and the quality of products. In the fields of wire rods and bars, gear steels and bearing steels produced by BOF process, valve spring steels and tire cord steels are discussed in this paper. In the plate and sheet, the improvement of high grade plate for line-pipe, for example, the deep drawing sheet and 9%Ni plate are discussed.
