Light induced absorption in BaTiO3 and KNbO3 generated with high intensity laser pulses

Light-induced absorption generated with nanosecond laser pulses (wavelength 532 nm, intensities up to 500 GWm-2) is investigated in BaTiO3 and KNbO3. The measurements strongly support the two-center model for absorption processes in these materials. Comparison with the results of cw experiments clearly indicates that at high light intensities additional shallow traps become active.
