The most topical problems of development of the lower level of flexible automatic production (FAP) systems for machining operations are considered. Algorithms are proposed for solving FAP problems by means of built-in control in the machining area. Some promising lines of development of multifunctional technological equipment and multipurpose numerical programmed control systems at the lower level of FAP machining are determined. The decisive role of memory storage in the organization of the means of control at the lower level of FAP is shown.
