Nickel is satisfactorily plated on alloys in a concentrated sulfate bath, but not on alloys heat treated. More adhesive layers are plated by treating in 1. 92 M/l HCl solution or in a mixed solution of 1. 92 M/l HCl and 0. 32 M/l HNO//3 prior to zinc replacement. Cu-Ni-Cr multilayer plating is achieved in the copper pyrophosphate bath, Ni plating in the Watts bath and Cr plating in the Sargent bath.
