Iraq to get US security vehicles

The US-administered Iraq Project and Contracting Organization (PCO) has awarded Textron Marine & Land System a contract worth $50 million for the supply of 43 Armored Security Vehicles (ASVs) for the recently formed Iraqi Civil Intervention Force. Work has already been started and the first vehicle is expected to be completed in November 2005. Of the 43 units, 41 will be a new stretched armoured personnel carrier configuration. The remaining two vehicles will be supplied in a command-and-control configuration and fitted with extensive communications equipment as well as a land navigation unit.
