Di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) is widely used in various technological processes. However, successful use of this effective extractant is impossible in a number of cases without additional purification to remove mono(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (M2EHPA) and neutral impurities (alcohols, triesters). Technical D2EHPA is usually purified by D. F. Peppard's improved method, which includes a number of extraction operations, generally performed manually in separatory funnels. In this paper the authors examine aspects of the development of an apparatus for continuous purification of D2EHPA under laboratory conditions.
