This article briefly discusses how HYL's new continuous process for direct reduction of iron ore has met with quick acceptance in both Mexico and Argentina. The first commercial application of the new HYL III process is described and details are given of other plants planned. The HYL III plants consist fundamentally of three sections: equipment for gas generation and heating, the reduction tower, and systems for material handling and auxiliary services.
