摘要:
Atomization of metal melts by a high-energy inert gas jet is one of the most economical methods of producing high-quality microcrystalline or amorphous metal alloy powders. Materials produced by melt spinning or melt extraction have to be comminuted to fine metal powder with a uniform particle shape before these materials can be compacted to larger size blanks. The authors, employees of Leybold-Heraeus GmbH in Hanau, Germany, discuss the techniques available for these rapidly solidified gas atomized powders and also processes for comminution of melt spun or melt extracted material.
