摘要
Melting time in the electric arc furnace has become considerably shorter because of increasing transformer capacity per charge ton of scrap in the so-called UHP electric furnace and combination of vacuum refining with melting in the electric furnace. The effect of various operating factors on productivity and on the quality of special steels is discussed, in particular with reference to the case of producing high carbon-chromium ball-bearing steel in the 100-charge ton- UHP furnace with a 60,000 KVA transformer and a 100-ton RH-degasser.
