TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION OF POWERED SUPPORTS.

For four years facilities for transporting and swivelling complete face support units in inclined conditions have been developed and tested at Haus Aden colliery. Two underground trials were successfully carried out with the swivelling and installing equipment in level conditions. A walking transporter for shields powered from face hydraulics and a loading station for T-junctions are being built and are to be used underground for the first time in 1985. With the help of this equipment work safety in difficult workings should be improved and stress on men reduced while productivity is raised.
