Daniel Industries produces some very complex products, consisting of a multitude of different parts. Whenever an order is placed, design personnel have to sift through a large number of possible configurations making each order essentially a custom job. The total number of configurations measures in the trillions for the fluid control and measurement device manufacturer's most complicated line. Expert system software running on a personal computer produces dramatic increases in bill of material and inventory accuracies for Daniel Industries. Design productivity soars as well.
