Sera from 10 patients with colorectal carcinoma, who had received single or double injections of 99mTc-CEA-McAb for immunoscintigraphy 2 weeks to 5 months earlier, were tested for their ability to agglutinate sheep red blood cells coated with mouse monoclonal antibody using radioimmunoimaging (RII) technique. Seven patients' sera show positive agglutination. HAMA is found in their blood and the concentration of HAMA is increased with the times of injection of 99mTc-CEA-McAb. The importance of monitoring human anti-mouse antibody is therefore emphasized for immunodetection or immunotherapy.
