Analog/digital converters, capable of digitizing in 12 bit a plus or minus 10-v analog signal within 2 mu sec, are considered to be ″fast″ . It can be shown that the frequency of the input signal should be exceeded by about 20 Hz for such a setup. This requirement cannot be satisfied in many applications. A modified, improved version is described which incorporates a sample-and-hold circuit. Some pertinent design guidelines are presented.
