Calculation of propagation constant of Ti:LiNbO3 waveguide with 2-dimensional graded index profiles

An accurate and simple method for calculating the propagation constant of Ti:LiNbO3 waveguide was suggested according to the property of refraction index profiles. The method was analysed and the dispersive relation of Ti:LiNbO3 waveguide was calculated by this method. The results show that the obtained values of normalized propagation constant by the present method are basically coincident with those by the finite element method, and are more precise than those by quasi-analytical technique. It provides a theoretical approach to design Ti:LiNbO3 integrated optical devices.
