摘要
A solid rotor induction motor develops more starting torque, with relatively small starting current, than that developed by a wound-rotor or a cage-rotor induction motor of the same frame size. A tapered construction of solid rotor and the stator bore results in addition to the torque, a force acting along the axial direction. These features render an induction motor with solid conical rotor ideally suitable for applications as hoist motor, electromagnetic brake and coupling subjected to frequent switching. This paper attempts an investigation on the steady state performance of the induction machine with solid conical rotor based on electromagnetic field approach. The present work serves as the basis for investigation on the transient performance of these machines leading to the development of design procedure.
