TRANSPORT SYSTEMS IN UNDERGROUND MINING.

The transport means available are briefly described as follows: Mine cars, belt conveyors and trackless vehicles mainly for the horizontal transportation of the product mined, but in special cases also of men and, with the exception of belt conveyors, of material; cage and skip winding installations for vertical transportation, with the cages being used mainly for manriding and material winding and the skips almost exclusively for producing winding. Upcoming trends are mine cars with payloads exceeding 15 t, belt conveyor systems and trackless transport units with higher payload, in coal mining, and a tendency to use stochastic simulations for laying out complete transport systems.
