摘要
In this paper, the Monte Carlo Method has been used to simulate the economic and physical conditions which affect environmental cost estimates in the production of electrical energy. The impact of erosion on the generation of energy is analyzed and considered in the simulation. The estimated environmental costs were determined considering the costs of energy generation with and without erosion-sedimentation in the Supacai river (Sao Paulo-Brazil). Historical data on sediment content of the Supacai river, were used in the simulation. The results indicate that an erosion control program can have an important economic impact, besides other benefits inherent to environmental protection.
