In the literature on psychrometry, it is frequently stated that sigma heat (effective heat content of the air) is a function only of wet bulb temperature and barometric pressure. However, a simple and direct expression of this functional relationship appears to have been elusive. Sigma heat is usually obtained either from psychrometric charts or tables, or calculated as enthalpy less the sensible heat of the water component.
