摘要
Nickel based alloys have been investigated with a view toward using them as cathodes in alkaline water electrolysers, chlorate cells, etc. Investigations show that the activity of a Ni-Mo-Fe alloy coating obtained on mild steel might be used as an electrocatalytic cathode for the evolution of hydrogen with a considerable reduction in the hydrogen overpotential. The adoptability of this electrocatalyst to water electrolysis has been investigated and this paper deals with the results. It has been found that this alloy does possess the necessary chemical, thermochemical and electrochemical stability requirement to be employed as electrocatalytic cathodes in alkaline water electrolysis.
